Just to note, there are indeed positions open on Apple's employment site for an Uptown location. It will be interesting to see how this will affect FirstTech's business.

In the documentary "Welcome to Macintosh" they talk to First Tech employees because it was the first apple retailer in the entire country! I can't believe they would be such a**holes to them. Of course, I always go to an Apple store rather than going to First Tech even though I am only 5 miles from it...so I guess I have to eat my words too.

Well, not totally confirmed as the new Apple Store, but, 3018 Hennepin Avenue is all framed now. All the strucutral steel is up and the back wall is filling in. It's going up quick!

I know a guy that works at a different Apple Store and talked to him about the new Uptown location and he basically confirmed what we all pretty much already knew, that the former Uptown Bar is the site of the new Apple Store.

The building seems to be in later stages of construction, so now the scaffolding in front is draped with black stuff to obscure the inside. Still looks exactly like an Apple Store.

Uptown Apple store opens Saturday

Apple's Minneapolis store in Uptown will open Saturday, the company said Monday.

The Cupertino, Calif.-based electronics developer and manufacturer's newest store, a two-story building at 3018 Hennepin Ave. S., opens at 10 a.m. on June 19, according to a news release. Apple's arrival had been widely rumored for months.
